Gardening Pictures

A & P this semester has been pretty much an annoying interruption between redesigning my parents back yard. The yard is still far from finished in these pictures, but you can get an idea of what I'm after. For the grass itself, we're planning to do perennial peanuts, but that's still future. Otherwise, the main things I need to do are lay down a lot of mulch and finish removing the dirt from the sidewalk. Obviously some of these pictures are further along in the process than others.

I have to say something about this guy. These are native FL bromeliad, common name: Giant Air plant (for obvious reasons). This one is about to flower. They've been placed on the endangered species list, not because there are so few of them, but because they are sensitive to an exotic beetle species is coming through Florida and whipping them out as it goes. Very sad.

The herb garden is up close to the house, since we always seem to decide that we need basil around 8 p.m. and have to fumbling around in the dark for it.

This bench is a step-up for the cats on their way to their cat door. I bought the cement cat unpainted, and mom and I painted him (this is right next to the purple sky vine and purple patio/ sidewalk that we painted to match the flower earlier this year). Beetsway approved.
